About Dale Decker, LCSW

I'm a licensed clinical social worker with a sole focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia. I see adult clients by secure video across Wisconsin.

My approach

CBT-I is a structured, short-term treatment that usually lasts four to eight sessions. We'll look at how sleep actually works, adjust the schedule your body is running on, and unwind the patterns that keep your nervous system on alert at night. Much of the change happens between sessions, in the small, specific shifts we plan together. I'll be in your corner for all of it.

I don't do open-ended talk therapy, and I don't treat a broad range of conditions. I do one thing, and I do it well. If insomnia is the problem you're trying to solve, you're in the right place. If something else is going on like grief, trauma, or a mood disorder I can help you find the right person for that work.

Background & training

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Wisconsin
  • 30+ years in clinical practice
  • Formal CBT-I training with leading researchers in the field
  • Ongoing consultation and continuing education in behavioral sleep medicine

Who I work with

Adults (18+) whose primary concern is chronic insomnia — trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking too early, lasting more than a few weeks. I work especially well with:

  • People whose sleep fell apart under stress and hasn't come back even if that stress has ended
  • People who want to taper off sleep medication safely with the help of me and their doctor
  • New parents whose sleep didn't recover after the early months
  • Anyone whose doctor recommended CBT-I but didn't know where to refer
